Here is a quick list of things to remember:
- Appliances to be serviced by a professional (advise moving consultant if appliances are gas or electric and if fridge has ice maker)
- Swing sets and garden furniture are dismantled
- House cleaning
- Accommodations for trip
- Be present on pack, load and unload days
- Place items you are taking with you in one area, to ensure that movers don’t pack them
- Take child’s favourite toy with you
- Set aside survival kit (things you will require when travelling and/or arrival at destination
- Give a copy of floor plan of new home to driver
- Drain fuel from lawn mower and other gas engines
- Drain waterbed
The following items cannot be packed or loaded:
- Perishable foods
- Fuel
- Batteries
- Paints
- Propane tanks
- Ammunition
- Soil or fertilizers
- Aerosol cans
- Oil
- Gas cans
- Pets
- Matches
- Scuba tank(unless the shipper removes the pressure valve located at the neck of the tank and installs a dust cap)
